Three Prayers

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

In the 23rd chapter of Luke we have an account of the trial and crucifixion of the Son of God. This is recorded as part of that story in verse 32: “And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death. And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, ‘Father forgive them for they know not what they do.’” (Luke 23: 32 – 34).

Bible Literacy (2)

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

A part of American history had its start with the effects of the Protestant Revolution and also the emergence of the Puritans in 16th-century Britain. As with most denominations, the Bible was the backbone of Puritanism. Mr. Gelernter continued, “It was also central to the emergence of modern Britain in the 16th and 17th centuries–and modern Britain was central in turn to the establishment of the United States of America and in an only slightly lesser sense to the continued development of the whole world.”

And it happened after many days the Word of Jehovah came to Elijah in the third year, saying, “Go, make yourself seen to Ahab, and I will give rain on the face of the earth.” And Elijah went to be seen by Ahab. And the famine in Samaria was severe.

The Grave Danger Found in Thinking Too Hard

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

I am amused by some of my Christian acquaintances and friends. They spend time postulating and posing ideas in their minds as to what exactly is meant by some of the weightier things in God’s word. The church and the form it takes is one current fashion. I read recently that the church is “invisible.” I have heard that it is not an organization, a corporation, an entity, or an institution.

Bible Literacy

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

A report released in 2005 by an organization called the Bible Literacy Project suggested that young Americans know very little about the Bible.

That probably did not come as much of a shock. And while the report has importance, but then first things first, another fair number of Americans do not see why teenagers need to know anything at all about the Bible. And some of these same people may profess to be Christians.

God is not Mocked

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

The seventh verse of the sixth chapter of the Epistle to the Galatians:

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked. For whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap.”

This admonition is given by the Apostle in immediate connection with the subject of contributions to the work of the Lord. He has just said to the brethren, “Let him that is taught in the Word communicate unto him that teaches in all good things.” And he says just below, in the same connection, “As we have opportunity let us work that which is good toward all men, and especially toward them that are of the household of the faith.”

Evolution Is Not Based on Natural Laws

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Duane Gish, Ph.D.

One of the claims most frequently used by evolutionists for excluding the scientific evidence for creation in public schools and to be denied for publication in scientific journals is that such evidence is not based on natural laws, therefore it cannot be scientific. They claim that evolutionary theory is based on natural laws and thus qualifies as a scientific theory. Hence, the theory of creation must be excluded, but the theory of evolution is admissible (of course, it must be absolutely atheistic). However, evolutionary theory is not based on natural laws but is actually contrary to natural laws.
