Inaccuracy, or interpretational boundaries overstepped though, is something that I have found in even the more "literal" versions such as the ESV. You have the right idea with using something like the HCSB and the CEV together. I look forward to any weaknesses/strengths Brent cares to share with us this coming year. I have never read the NLT so I will reserve judgement. When I study, I like using 2 translations at once. One for readability and one for accuracy. I find the CEV very readable, and it often reads as I would speak. The problem with readability is inaccuracy always follows. I have started using the HCSB for accuracy. The HCSB has been doing a decent job of finding inaccuracies in the CEV. That is the problem with translations. If they lean toward readability, there will be a natural tendency for errors.
